Generation Z encompasses students born after 1995. Due to the conduct of life ascribed to them, as well as the expectations and preferences connected with personal development and lifestyle they lead, it is a specifc research category which presents different life categories than their predecessors. We should think whether the environment of a university or college still constitutes an important place in the life of a young student, constituting a contribution to the fulflment of their life needs and plans. The frst part of the text describes social and professional functioning of the Generation Z. The text also presents the results of research conducted among a group of students from the Dolnośląskie voivodeship, classifed in the following categories, according to the problem: preferences of young students concerning the university education manner, preferences connected with studying method, perception of the university environment and the defnition of oneself as its student, preferences concerning conduct of life, preferences connected with life choices and possibilities of their fulflment at a university.
