From 1581 onwards, the Sejm upon the monarch's request decided on securing the queen's dowry. Diplomats from mansions, from which the queen came from, took interest in establishing the security. It took place in the climate of fierce political struggle between the opposition and the king. The consent of the nobility became a form of pressure exerted on the king, in order to coax him into abandoning his plans which threatened the freedoms and the rights of the nobility. The king had to renew his request to secure the queen;s dowry on the following Sejm's session. The practice has shown that the monarch's request was granted according to his wishes, despite the resistance of the opposition.
