Organizacja terytorialna osadnictwa łowców mezolitycznych. Studia na przykładzie obszaru rynny plejstoceńskiej dolnej Odry

The paper concerns the seldom examined question of the territorial organization of Mesolithic hunting groups. The study is sourced on evidence from the old glacial trough of the Lower Oder river located to the northwest of Szczecin in Pomerania. This area has been the site of field survey and excavations conducted by the author over the past 25 years. More than 200 Mesolithic sites have been identified in an area of approximately 600 km² and several dozen of these have been tested archaeologically to a varied extent. At the Tanowo site field investigations have been carried out for a total of 15 seasons, discovering 16 Mesolithic scatters over an area of approximately 2000 m². Concurrent research included geomorphological, pedological, hydrological, palynological and other complementary studies. The objective was reconstructing occupation patterns in the natural environment of the Early Holocene, identifying environmental factors determining site formation, confronting cultures and examining the socio-territorial organization of Mesolithic hunter occupation. The following subjects are discussed: site paleotopography, spatial layout of sites, their cultural and social factors shaping occupation in preboreal–boreal (9700–8700 bp), boreal II–atlantic I (8700–7000 bp), second half of atlantic period (about 7000–5500 bp) and models of socio-territorial organization of Duvensee complex and Maglemosian groups.
