The nature, transformations, and forms of the Polish teacher development system

This paper presents the nature, transformations and teacher professional development system in the years from 1944 to 1994. Emphasis has been put on the importance of teacher professional development in improving their professional competence and quality of work of educational institutions. The professional development of teachers is one of the most important objectives of the education system reform. Taking up this subject arises from searching for model solutions for the modern teacher professional development.
