Perspektywy modernizacji gospodarki Polski poprzez dyfuzję innowacji

The article discusses the diffusion of innovation, and opportunities to use it as a means to technological modernisation. The author’s premise is that, with the current level of development of the Polish economy, the diffusion of innovation will become the basic mechanism for implementing technological changes. In order to substantiate his thesis, he looks at theoretical interpretations of the process and its role in leveling out gaps in technology. He also discusses the conditions for using the potential buried within the process. The paper seeks to reveal premises that justify basing a strategy for Polish economic development on the transfer of technological solutions. These considerations lead to the conclusion that the condition for such a strategy’s effectiveness is the stimulation of diffusion processes, and especially improving the economy’s capacity to absorb innovation. One of the most important steps to be taken in breaking down the barriers to the spreading of innovation in Poland is improving the quality of institutional solutions.
