The purpose of my paper is to draw attention to the importance of the Internet in teaching foreign languages with particular emphasis on teaching German language using the wsipnet.pl web platform. The use of new technologies, in schools including the Internet, has become a reality and hope for faster and more effective teaching and learning. To be successful, however, it is required from both learners and educators to use these network resources in a didactically appropriate manner. Therefore, this method has found not only many supporters, but also opponents. Computers, with their abundance of possibilities , can not only display the didactic material to be learnt and support it with flashy illustrations, but also check if it is being acquired and understood effectively, specify a learning path and store important information for a learner. It is a form of self-learning, which is definitely going to be expanded and enriched dynamically. It should be clearly noted, however, that computers and the Internet are not intended to replace existing forms of learning, but to enrich and contribute to their growth and effectiveness.
