In this article, the author challenges the way the cultural competence is shaped by private events in Poland, such as: birthday’s parties, invited family dinners or farewell parties. In the theoretical part, pointed out are possible core differences in celebrations and their significance for the foreigners learning Polish language. The practical part is showing exercises and tasks introducing Polish traditional ways of celebrating things with families and friends.
