Proces konstytucjonalizacji ochrony srodowiska w Polsce

In the past legal protection of the environment was connected primarily with the development of the legislation concerning the components of environment and the administrative structures related to them. In the beginning it covered asmall part of the environment in its current sense. Now, as aresult of the development of science and globalization principle of sustainable development gained special significance. In Poland, the environmental protection administration began to develop in the 1970s. It was caused by achange in the Constitution of the Polish People’s Republic in 1976 and the enactment of the statute on Environmental Protection and Development of 1980. The current status is regulated by the Constitution of 1997. In the interpretation of the environmental provisions in the Polish Constitution the work of the Constitutional Committee of the National Assembly (1993−1997) must be taken into account.
