Les sciences biologiques [en Pologne populaire] [1952]

[The author observes that the biological sciences are at present the object of an intense action, the object of which is to mold them entirely in the Soviet fashion. He describes the ideological changes imposed on Polish biologists, including rejection of genetics, refusal of fundamental research, criticism of Polish biology of the period between wars, acceptance of Lysenkoism and Lepieszyńska’s conceptions of the origin of Life and the forced introduction of Marxism and Stalin’s ideas on scientific research. He also analyzes in detail the institutional changes including the creation of the new Polish Academy of Sciences and the liquidation of independent scientific institutions. He analyzes a humiliating practice of forced self–criticism and a veritable witch–hunt organized by the communists. Rydzewski also describes the possible future consequences for the science of this forced Sovietization.]
