Wiedeńskie nauki Franciszka i Adama Trembińskich (1765–1768)

Drawing on preserved letters, the article presents the adventures of Franciszek and Adam, sons of Walerian Trembiński and his wife Ludwika, née Rostworowski, in choosing a school, preparing for their departure, staying in Vienna and studying in a local school. After home education and at the Lvov Jesuits, they were sent under the care of Father Borzejowski to Savoy Academy, a school founded in 1746 by Maria Theresa, Duchess of Savoy. Itexisted until 1778. Poles also studied in the school, acquiring skills of importance for the nobility. The letters of representatives of the Trembiński family and their next of kin contain information on the course of their studies, daily life, contacts with other Poles and important personas, and the cost of their stay in Vienna. They are supplemented by newspapers coverage of the activities of young men from Savoy Academy.
