The New Uzbekistan: An Epochal Challenge (Reforms of 2021–2023)
The study attempts to diagnose the second stage of the political reforms implemented in Uzbekistan in 2021–2023. It was a policy of the “transitional period” – a transformation crisis in which the president’s election, the constitution’s amendment, the constitutional referendum, and the early re-election of the president took place. These events culminated in a nationwide debate on further state transformations, which led to the concept of the country’s political model: New Uzbekistan – the Third Renaissance. The author explains how this crisis arose and outlines the basic assumptions underlying the strategy for building New Uzbekistan. This strategy marks a new chapter in Uzbekistan’s transformation and aligns with the country’s national aspirations and the standards of a modern state.
