Ludność Podhala wobec niepodległości Polski. Wybrane problemy

The attitude of the Podhale population towards Poland’s independence. Selectedtopics In 1918 Poland regained independence after 123 years of partitions. The article discusses the contribution of the Podhale population to the struggle for independence. Even before World War I, the Podhale people were establishing militia organizations, developed education and their own newspapers in order to raise highlanders’ awareness of the need for engaging in the efforts for independence. In 1918 they supported Polish patriots in Galicia and took part in the process of regaining independence by Poland.

W 1918 r. Polska odzyskała niepodległość po123 latach zaborów. Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia wkład mieszkańców Podhala w dzieło walki o niepodległość. Jeszcze przed wybuchem I wojny światowej zakładali oni organizacje paramilitarne, rozwijali oświatę i własne gazety. Wszystko po to, żeby uświadomić górali o potrzebie zaangażowania się przez nich w działalność niepodległościową. W 1918 r. wsparli działania polskich patriotów w Galicji i także zaznaczyli swój udział w odzyskaniu przez Polskę niepodległości.
