Byron romantyków polskich i Lermontowa

The article presents similarities and differences in the reception of Byron’s works in the literature of Polish and Russian Romanticism. It exemplifies the use of comparative literature to study the differences between Polish and Russian cultures. It shows the influence of the radical dualism model in the dynamics of changes in the idea of the English Romantic in Russian culture. It points to the connection between the anti-worldly dualism of Lermontov’s characters – their contestation of the elementary data of existence and the conditions of socio-political life – with their nihilism and demonism; therefore, the article shows a coincidence inspired by Byronic individualism – unknown to Polish Romanticism.

Artykuł przedstawia podobieństwa i różnice w recepcji twórczości Byrona w literaturze polskiego i rosyjskiego romantyzmu. Jest przykładem zastosowania komparatystyki do badania odmienności kultur polskiej i rosyjskiej. Ukazuje wpływ modelu radykalnego dualizmu w dynamice przemian idei angielskiego romantyka w kulturze rosyjskiej. Wskazuje na związek antyświatowego dualizmu bohaterów Lermontowa – ich kontestowania elementarnych danych egzystencji oraz warunków życia społeczno-politycznego z ich nihilizmem i demonizmem, ergo: artykuł ukazuje zainspirowaną indywidualizmem byronicznym koincydencję – nieznaną romantyzmowi polskiemu.
