This text is a polemic about the role of a legal adviser acting as a defense counsel of choice in pre-trial proceedings. In the assessment, the role of a legal adviser as a defense counsel by choice does not differ from the role of an attorney, and possible differences– more cosmetic than fundamental– can be discussed only in relation to the issue of the exercise of the profession and arising from corporate laws.
