Experimental and numerical progress in the Ranque-Hilsch vortex tube investigation (CFD dataset)
This dataset contains numerical simulation results of airflow in a Ranque–Hilsch Vortex Tube (RHVT), obtained using ANSYS Fluent. The primary goal was to analyze the temperature separation phenomenon inside the vortex tube and validate the computational model against experimental data. The simulations were based on a turbulent flow model (k-ω SST) under specified inlet conditions. The dataset includes case and data files with full geometry, boundary conditions, solver setup, and computed flow fields (temperature, velocity, pressure). Results include temperature separation between hot and cold outlets and pressure distribution along the tube.
Although the original simulation was performed in ANSYS Fluent (commercial software), the study can be reproduced using non-commercial open-source software, such as OpenFOAM, which supports k-ω SST turbulence modeling, compressible flow, and thermal analysis.
