Nutrition is one of the most important factors influencing health status and productive performance. Dietary fat type may affect calf rearing outcomes. Current knowledge regarding requirements of calves for specific fatty acids is very limited. Polyunsaturated fatty acids are necessary for proper development of young animals. These substances are susceptible to oxidation. Calves fed diets supplemented with polyunsaturated fatty acids usually receive additional vitamin E supplementation. The aim of this paper was to present the aspects connected with polyunsaturated fatty acids in calf nutrition.
