W artykule przeprowadzona została analiza mediolingwistyczna orędzi noworocznych Andrzeja Dudy, Olafa Szolca i Władimira Putina na 2023 rok, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem obrazu wojny rosyjsko-ukraińskiej. Duda i Szolc opisali rosyjskiego prezydenta jako agresora, a Ukrainę jako niepodległy kraj, który został zmuszony do obrony swojej suwerenności. Z kolei Władimir Putin ukazał Federację Rosyjską jako ofiarę Zachodu, a Ukrainę – jako część Rosji rządzoną przez neonazistów. Taki obraz odzwierciedla poglądy imperialistyczne, które negują istnienie suwerennego narodu ukraińskiego. Opór Ukraińców wobec rosyjskiej agresji pokazuje, że wizja Putina nie jest zgodna z rzeczywistością.

The article contains a media linguistic analysis of the New Year addresses for 2023, delivered by Andrzej Duda, Olaf Scholz and Vladimir Putin, with the focus on the image of the Russo-Ukrainian war. Duda and Scholz described the Russian president as an aggressor and Ukraine as an independent nation, forced to defend itself. By contrast, Vladimir Putin presented the Russian Federation as a victim of the West, and Ukraine – as a part of Russia, ruled by the neo-Nazis. Such an image reflects imperialistic views that deny the existence of an independent Ukrainian nation. The resistance of Ukrainians to the Russian aggression has shown that the image created by Putin defies reality.
