Risky closure of a loop ileostomy in a pregnant woman in the 20th week of pregnancy

Introduction: In case of a risk of leak in the surgical join, loop ileostomy is a frequently performed procedure which allows for safe termination of surgery. However, loop ileostomy may lead to numerous adverse effects, with malnutrition being one of the most dangerous conditions. Case report: Here we present a clinical case of loop ileostomy reversal in a pregnant patient due to progressing malnutrition. TachoSil matrix was applied during surgery in order to secure the intestinal anastomosis. The surgery allowed for safe continuation of pregnancy.
