Artykuł ma charakter teoretyczny - empiryczny. Podjęto w nim zdrowotne oraz społeczno-kulturowe aspekty funkcjonowania dziecka ze spektrum autyzmu. Uwzględniono interdyscyplinarne podejście do zagadnienia. Wskazano konteksty procesu diagnozy, form i zakresu wsparcia społeczno-pedagogicznego oferowanego dzieciom ze spektrum autyzmu. W części empirycznej scharakteryzowano wyniki dotychczasowych badań. Całość podsumowano wskazaniem dyrektyw przydatnych dla praktyki pedagogicznej.
