Modern terrorism is a threat affecting the security of EU Member States. The article attempts to formulate an answer to the question, what threat do terrorist attacks pose to the EU and how do they affect its security after 2001? Recognizing the degree and type of threat from terrorists is the starting point for estimating and assessing the scope of the activities of the Anti-Terrorist Center of the Internal Security Agency (Centrum Antyterrorystyczne Agencji Bezpieczeństwa Wewnętrznego), and the role of this institution in preventing terrorism and combating this scourge in Poland and other European Union countries.

Współczesny terroryzm jest zagrożeniem wpływającym na bezpieczeństwo państw członkowskich UE. Artykuł stanowi próbę sformułowania odpowiedzi na pytanie, jakie zagrożenie stanowią ataki terrorystyczne dla UE i jak wpływają na jej bezpieczeństwo po 2001 roku?
