Kształcenie techników farmaceutycznych w Krakowie w latach 1963–2007
Training of pharmacy technicians began in Krakow in 1963 with the establishment of the State School of Pharmacy Technicians. Initially it was a two-year vocational college and since 1972 a post-secondary school, located at 9/11 Fornalska street (now H. Wietora street) and then at 58–60 Zamoyskiego street. In the years 1972–2007 the training was carried out within various forms of organizational structure of the school, i.e. it was either a field of study or a faculty. By 2007, a total of 2225 pharmacy technicians were trained and gained qualifications to compound and dispense medicines in community pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, sanatorium pharmacies, railway pharmacies and in dispensaries. Over time, pharmacy technicians’ qualifications were extended to manage dispensaries, which made it a significantly more attractive profession. In 2007 the first external examination was held, which confirmed professional qualifications of the graduates.
