“Mediation in legal education in Poland” In Poland, the development of mediation, which is actually the most popular and the most frequently used method of the Alternative Dispute Resolution, in spite of its presence in the legal provisions since 1991 – can hardly be considered a dynamic process. The reasons for such a situation originate from insufficient legal regulations as well as relatively low interest of the legal environment – mainly practicing lawyers, often considering mediation as a (competitive) process juxtaposed to litigation. The negative approach of this group results not only from insufficient knowledge, but also from the fact that these persons do not apply this method in dispute settlement, as they consider it ineffective. In order to change this way of reasoning, it is necessary to promote the idea of mediation starting from the initial stage of legal education – academic studies followed by legal training. For that reason, the article attempts to study the presence of the mediationtopic throughout legal education and also to formulate some brief de lege ferenda remarks on that issue.
