Industry 4.0 – Identification of Technologies that Have Changed the Industry and their Importance in Logistics Management

After the third industrial revolution, which was associated with the automation of production processes, the fourth came – resulting from the implementation of new technologies, as well as the dynamic development of areas of artificial intelligence or rapid prototyping. The changes are not limited to industry only. They affect every sphere of life. This publication presents the main assumptions of the Industry 4.0 concept (Industry 4.0, Industrie 4.0) with particular emphasis on its technological solutions. The challenges and benefits of the fourth industrial revolution are also highlighted and its relationship with the supply chain management has been emphasized.
