Feliks Koneczny’s Concept of Civilization. On Certain Proposal of Application and Extension

The main goal of this paper is to assess the possibility of using Feliks Koneczny’s concept of civilization for contemporary research on broadly understood culture. In the first part of this paper objections raised toward Koneczny’s concept and his views are critically examined. This analysis, based on the distinction between adaptive and historical interpretation, leads to differentiation between Koneczny’s theory and his opinions and views. In the second part, Koneczny’s theory of civilization is presented and the author discusses the possibility to supplement it with new categories of ideology and religion.
