Tired women] [An iconographic document

Zdjęcie przesłane na konkurs "Fotografia polskiej wsi" do 1948 roku, organizowany w 1983 r. przez kwartalnik "Fotografia" i tygodnik "Nowa Wieś". Odbitka zdjęcia przechowywana w Instytucie Archeologii i Etnologii PAN (dawniej Instytut Historii Kultury Materialnej)

The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)

The photo depicts two women who seem to be worn out with work and poor. One of them is dressed in a donkey jacket and a skirt, she has a dark scarf on her head; the other one is dressed in a blouse and a bright apron. According to the photo's owner, it was taken in Ukraine and depicts her grandmother's family. At the back there is an inscription in Russian (illegible)

Fotografia przedstawia dwie kobiety wyglądające na spracowane i ubogie. Jedna z nich ubrana jest w kufajkę i długa spódnicę, na głowie ma ciemną chustę, druga w bluzkę i jasny fartuch. Według właścicielki zdjęcia zostało ono wykonane na terenie Ukrainy i przedstawia rodzinę jej babki. Na odwrocie zdjęcia inskrypcja w języku rosyjskim (nieczytelna)
