Celebrare Convivium. Miasto w podróży – perspektywa gościnności

In the article, I attempt to speak about hospitality in relation to the contexts of the city and travelling, start-ing from the ethnographic detail and moving towards the anthropological general, and back again. I attempt to look for universal attributes of hospitality, to see how they were realised in my own experience. These are the goals that guided me in writing the current text, which is devoted to memory, travelling, experiencing various forms of hospitality during distant and short journeys, during research projects and “ordinary” mov-ing in a culturally alien environment and city; among people and things, with the baggage of one’s own culture and one’s own corporeality. While reconstructing my own experiences of hospitality, I tried to con-front them with the reflection of cultural researchers crucial to anthropology. I decided to quote them abundantly, to allow these passages to correspond with each other and with the adopted topic, and thus to give them a special kind of hospitality in the text.

W artykule próbuję opowiedzieć o gościnności w kontekście miasta i podróży, wychodząc od etnograficznego szczegółu, a dążąc do antropologicznego ogółu, i z powrotem. Staram się znaleźć uniwersalne atrybuty gościnności, przyjrzeć się, jak funkcjonowały one w moim własnym doświadczeniu. Te właśnie cele przyświecały mi przy pisaniu poniższego tekstu poświęconego pamięci, podróżowaniu, doświadczaniu różnych form gościnności w trakcie dalekich i bliskich wyjazdów, podczas badawczych przedsięwzięć i „zwykłego” poruszania się w obcym kulturowo środowisku i mieście, wśród ludzi i rzeczy oraz z bagażem własnej kultury i własną cielesnością. Rekonstruując własne przeżycia gościnności, starałem się je skonfrontować z refleksjami ważnych dla antropologii badaczy kultury. Postanowiłem obficie je cytować, pozwolić tym fragmentom ze sobą i z przyjętym tematem korespondować, i tym samym udzielić im w tekście szczególnego rodzaju gościny.
