Popular festivals in the Parks of Culture and Recreation in the USSR

The article analyses popular festivals held in the Parks of Culture and Recreation, a phenomenon characteristic of the Soviet culture. It describes the main features of Soviet popular festivals as forms of the communist upbringing, as a theatrical medium, and as a method of reinforcing the values of the Soviet state in the citizens’ awareness. The article analyses the transformations which took place in popular festivals in the days of the USSR: from their transformation into dramatised and ideologised celebrations of the Soviet holidays to the resurgence of the carnival element and the aspirations to freedom in them

W artykule podjęto analizę charakterystycznego dla kultury radzieckiej zjawiska festynów w parkach kultury i wypoczynku. Autorka charakteryzuje główne cechy festynów radzieckich jako formy wychowania komunistycznego, teatralizowanego środka przekazu i utrwalania w świadomości obywateli wartości państwa radzieckiego. Artykuł dotyczy przemian, które dokonywały się w tego typu uroczystościach publicznych za czasów ZSRR: od przekształcenia ich w teatralizowane i ideologizowane obchody świąt radzieckich do odrodzenia się w nich żywiołu karnawalizacji i dążenia do wolności
