Death and afterlife in Tibetan Buddhism
The article analyzes the Tibetan understanding of death, which is mainly based on the Buddhist religion. Author described the process of dying, rebirth and soteriological methods that -according to Tibetan Buddhism -can bring liberation from the cycling existence. The analysis is based on the Tibetan eschatological literature, of which the most famous is The Tibetan Book of the Dead (tib. Bar-do thos-grol). The article ends with a comparison of the Tibetan concepts and some Western theories of death (Raymond Moody, Stanislav Grof).
