Rituals of the Easter period in Poland

In this article the author describes rituals (which the author refers to as customs, as they are seen as such) of the Easter period (from Palm Sunday till Tuesday after Easter Sunday) still conducted in Poland on different levels: in families, in small communities (parishes, villages), and on the national level (the last ones enhanced by the mass media). The author shows different meanings of these rituals, displaying intermingled traditions. Influence of the mass media on keeping, changing and abandoning old rituals is also highlighted here.
