Burnout syndrome among psychiatrists : literature review

Stresogenne warunki pracy oraz towarzyszące temu zjawiska patologiczne (pracoholizm, mobbing), generując psychologiczne koszty, obniżają efektywność i możliwości adaptacyjne pracownika. Jedną ze składowych pracy jest syndrom wypalenia zawodowego. W zakresie psychiatrii ma jednak szczególne znaczenie, ponieważ, jak potwierdzają wyniki licznych badań, grupa ta jest na nie bardzo często narażona. Cel niniejszego artykułu stanowi analiza czynników ryzyka, stadiów rozwoju oraz skutków wypalenia zawodowego w grupie lekarzy psychiatrów.

Stressful conditions in workplace and accompanying them pathological reactions (workaholism, mobbing) generating psychological costs, reduce the efficiency and adaptability of the employee. One of the components of the work is burnout syndrome. In the field of psychiatry, however, it is particularly important because, as confirmed by numerous studies, this group is very often exposed to this condition The purpose of this article is to analyze available scientific literature concerning risk factors, stages of development and effects of burnout in a group of psychiatrists.
