Zagozd : terra incognita polskiej mediewistyki

The paper deals with the problem of so called terra Zagozd - a historical region known from the charteres issued in the years 1144-1241, presenting basic data on the state of research - mostly historical and archaeological on that topic. The author argues, i.a., that this area was not so totally unpopulated in the early Middle Ages as it has been stated by some scholars and disagrees with the interpretation of some local toponyms by Jerzy Nalepa.
