Music in poems of Kazimierz Wierzyński
In his poems and essays Kazimierz Wierzyński frequently described excursions into the worlds of art. Pictorial, musical and literary themes returned to his works with special intensity in his late, emigration period, when the poet was seeking spiritual counterbalance for his "inconvenience of exile". His stay in New York and European voyages gave him a broader perspective on artistic, not only modern, phenomena. The poet's cultural initiations integrally join with artist's internal biography, mediate in transmitting emotions and experience, formulating existential and metaphysical questions. Testimonies of art, able to cross boundaries of time and space, can be integrated into the poet's own experience, giving it greater perma-nence, because what had been recorded in the signs of culture resists abrupt changes in history, is not subject to transience of life, does not become lost.
