Leonardo da Vinci as a researcher of nature

In the paper I pose a question about the philosophical assumptions of the research attitude of Leonardo da Vinci. I do not differentiate this attitude to artistic or scientific, because in Leonardo’s case both approaches created spiritual and intellectual unity. Scientific activities supported his artistic work and were a complementary element of his oeuvre. The answer to the basic question of the article does not concern the general conclusion whether his views were located in the naturalistic trend prevailing in the Renaissance, because this issue does not raise doubts. Leonardo indeed was a naturalist. The subject of the discussion is the answer to the detailed question about what type of naturalism he represented.
