Stosunki międzynarodowe w szkole wyższej : praktyka

In the tradition of Polish institutions of higher education, programs in International Relations are treated as belonging to the discipline of Political Science, which results in a teaching focusing more on theoretical issues. The experience of the universities abroad proves that especially International Relations studies could and should emphasize the applicability of knowledge and skills acquired during the studies. The practice of the members of the Guild of European Research Intensive Universities (the Guild) shows that programs should be built around investigating and solving real and actual problems. Only thanks to the collaboration with public and private entities involved in transnational and cross-border activities, students can appreciate the applicability of theories and the understand that every good theory must be grounded on genuine experience. Thus, the programs offered in European universities can be treated as an advice how to enhance the quality of Polish programs of studies in international relations.

W polskiej praktyce szkolnictwa wyższego studia z zakresu stosunków międzynarodowych są umieszczane w dyscyplinie nauk o polityce, co wymusza na oferowanych programach studiów położenie nacisku na teorię relacji międzynarodowych. Jednak doświadczenia uczelni zagranicznych wskazują wyraźnie, że właśnie stosunki międzynarodowe (International Relations) mogą i powinny być nauczane z naciskiem na ich charakter aplikacyjny. Działania uczelni skupionych w the Guild of European Research Intensive Universities pokazują, że podstawą studiowania powinno być oparte na realnych i aktualnych problemach badawczych. Tylko we współpracy z podmiotami (publicznymi i prywatnymi) zaangażowanymi w działania transnarodowe i transgraniczne studenci mogą dostrzec, że teorie mają swój wymiar praktyczny, a każda dobra teoria musi się opierać na autentycznym doświadczeniu. W ten sposób podejście europejskich uczelni może być doskonałą wskazówką, jak podnosić jakość nauczania na kierunku stosunki międzynarodowe w Polsce.
