Epidemics in the anthropological perspective.

Celem pracy jest określenie wpływu epidemii na strukturę populacji. Żeby to wykazać porównano ze sobą dwa cmentarzyska, reprezentujące dwa różne rozkłady wymieralności: naturalny i katastroficzny. Badanie paleodemograficzne ma za zadanie określić czy możliwe jest oszacowanie wyłącznie na podstawie demografii danej populacji czy miała na nią wpływ epidemia lub inna klęska w przypadku braku dowodów historycznych i archeologicznych.

The target of this study is to estimate influence of the epidemic on a population’s structure. To prove that, the two, representing two different mortality profiles: attritional and catastrophic, cemeteries were compared. Paleodemographic research aims to define the possibility of evaluation of epidemical or other disaster influence on a population only by the demography of the population alone, in case of lack of historical and archeological evidence.
