The first chapter of the thesis deals with the post WWII war settlements agreements between the three victorious sides. Describes the turning points in the totalitarian system's developments in Eastern Europe. Portrays the early signs of Stalin's unfairness and the Roosevelt's administration's negotiations with the former dictator. Describes the early stages of the Cold War, the political weapons against it and the situation in the directly influenced region in Eastern Europe Poland.The second chapter describes the events that took place in the Eastern Block, the East Berlin and Poland during the Cold War period. It deals with the internal situation of the two Eastern Blocks and the events that lead to the fall of communism. It portrays the Berlin Wall and the Solidarity movement influence in the final stages of communism regime in Eastern Europe. Also it mentions various methods that the United States used in order to fight communism. The third chapter of the thesis portrays communism in film and literature. The examples used in the chapter include the two famous stories of George Orwell as well as the very well-known movie produced in Poland. All of the examples reveal the nature of the communistic system, the way it worked and how it was destroyed. The two stories study the utopian nature of the system as well as its various characteristics. The movie deals with the role of the Church and the Solidarity movement in Poland that played a great part in fighting communism
