Wybór czy przymus? Obraz życia imigrantów we Włoszech na podstawie rozmów przeprowadzonych z petentami Biura Imigracyjnego Caritasu w Rzymie

Obecnie temat imigracji we Włoszech jest bardzo często podejmowany. Imigracji są bardzo ważną częścią społeczeństwa włoskiego. Mieszkają tam, studiują, pracują, wychowują swoje dzieci oraz uczestniczą w życiu społecznym. W mojej pracy staram się odpowiedzieć na następujące pytanie: Jaki czynnik powoduje napływanie tak wielu milionów osób do Włoch? Czy ten czynnik jest wynikiem wyboru czy też przymusu? Czy imigranci utrzymują swój poprzedni status bycia „dobrowolnym” lub „przymusowym”? Czy zmieniają siebie samych oraz swoja pozycję w społeczeństwie? W pierwszej części mojej pracy przedstawiam zarys historyczny procesu imigracyjnego do Włoch oraz politykę imigracyjną w XX wieku. Następnie charakteryzuję proces imigracji: liczbę osób, kraje z których pochodzą, rozmieszczenie na terytorium we Włoszech. W tym rozdziale opisuję także wpływ obecności imigrantów na włoski rynek pracy. Trzeci rozdział składa się z dwóch części. Pierwsza cześć przedstawia strukturę oraz zakres obowiązków Biura Imigracyjnego Caritasu w Rzymie. Druga natomiast opisuje petentów tego Centrum. Stworzyłam również schemat, w którym podzieliłam imigrantów według posiadanego typu pozwolenia na pobyt (permesso di soggiorno). Są tutaj zamieszczone dwie kategorie: imigrantów „dobrowolnych” oraz imigrantów „przymusowych”. Ostatni rozdział stanowi fundamentalną część mojej pracy. W pierwszym podpunkcie zamieściłam zapiski z rozmów przeprowadzonych z imigrantami. Historie te są podzielone według mojego schematu. W drugiej części tego rozdziału staram się stworzyć obraz imigrantów poprzez opisywanie ich: cech zewnętrznych, sposobu zachowania, poziomu wykształcenia, znajomości języków obcych, ale również ich życiowych celów, głównych problemów oraz stopnia procesu asymilacji. W trzeciej, ostatniej części pracy, próbuję udzielić odpowiedzi na kluczowe pytanie mojej pracy: Wybór czy przymus? Kogo możemy określić mianem imigranta „dobrowolnego” a kogo mianem imigranta „przymusowego”? Mam nadzieję, że udało mi się odpowiedzieć na postawione pytanie.

Nowadays the matters of the immigration in Italy is one of the most popular theme in this country. They are very important part of the Italian society. The immigrants live, study, work, bring up their children and participate in the social life too. In my master’s thesis I try to answer to following question: What kind of factor does cause the coming of many millions of people to Italy? Is this factor the result of choice or of obligation? And then the immigrants do they remain still how earlier “voluntary” and “obligatory”? Do they change themselves and they position in the society? In the first part of my master’s thesis I present the outline of the immigration history and the immigration policy in Italy in the XXth century. Afterwards I characterize the process of the immigration: the number of people, the countries of their origin, the location on the Italian territory and finally, in this chapter, I describe the influence of the immigrants on the labour market in Italy. The third chapter is composed of two parties. The first one presents the structure and the range of the duties of the Caritas Immigration Office in Rome. The second one describes the petitioners of this Centre. I created also a scheme in which I divide the immigrants according to permit of state’s type (permesso di soggiorno). They include two principal categories: the “voluntary” immigrants and the “obligatory” immigrants. The last chapter constitutes the fundamental part of my master’s thesis. In the first subpart I enclose some records of conversations with the immigrants. The stories are divided according to my scheme. In the second part of this chapter I try to create the image of the immigrants by describing: their characteristics, the behavior, the level of their education, the knowledge of foreign languages, but also the aims in their life, their main problems and the level of the process of assimilation. Finally, in the third part of this chapter, I try to answer to key question of the masters’ thesis: the choice or the obligation? Who can be described the “voluntary” immigrant and “obligatory” immigrant? I hope I was able to answer to this question.
