Małżeństwo w Atenach okresu klasycznego.

The subject of the thesis is the analysis of marriage in society in Athens during the classical period. The starting point for this study was collecting and studying the literature relating to marriage, both in ancient sources and studies of contemporary authors.The paper presents researches on the history of women's lives, the sources of numerous ancient writers, and iconography showing this issue. The first chapter shows the social changes in Greece after the Persian wars and the outbreak of the Peloponnesian War. Subsequent chapters deal with education of girls and boys in Athens, Sparta and the social and religious functions, which they have to fulfill in the ancient society. The last part of the work has been devoted to the subject of marriage with a detailed breakdown of this rite for : engagement, wedding ceremony and a bride’s ceremonial procession to the house of the groom.

Przedmiotem pracy magisterskiej jest analiza małżeństwa zawieranego w społeczeństwie greckim w Atenach okresu klasycznego. Punktem wyjścia dla pracy było zebranie oraz przestudiowanie literatury dotyczącej małżeństwa, zarówno wzmianek w źródłach antycznych, jak opracowań współczesnych autorów.W opracowaniu przedstawione zostały badania prowadzone nad historią życia kobiet, źródła antycznych twórców oraz liczna ikonografia ukazująca powyższą kwestię. Pierwszy rozdział pracy został poświęcony przemianom społecznym w Grecji po wybuchu wojen perskich oraz wojny peloponeskiej. Kolejne rozdziały dotyczą wychowania dziewcząt i chłopców w Atenach, Sparcie oraz funkcji społecznych i religijnych, jakie były przed nimi stawiane w antycznym społeczeństwie. Ostatnia część pracy poświęcona została tematyce małżeństwa z dokładnym podziałem tego obrzędu na: zaręczyny, ceremonię ślubną oraz uroczystą procesję małżonki do domu pana młodego.
