The importance of a libretto in Giacomo Puccini works on the example of La Bohème

Giacomo Puccini potrafił napisać dobrą operę tylko wtedy, gdy miał do dyspozycji idealne libretto. W mojej pracy omawiam - na przykładzie "Cyganerii" - znaczenie zagadnienia cyganerii artystycznej w życiu kompozytora, jego sposób współpracy z librecistami oraz wpływ libretta na warstwę muzyczną i teatralną tego dzieła. Prezentuję też historię wyboru tematu i powstawania libretta.

Giacomo Puccini could write a good opera only when he had an ideal libretto. In my work I present - on the example of "La Bohème" - importance of the artistic Bohemia in composer's life, his methods of cooperating with his librettists and influence of the libretto on musical and theatrical part of this opera. I also review the history of choosing the subject and writing the libretto.
