Picture of the Polish Legions, in ,,Polish News, from the creation of the detachment to the passing the Act of 5th November

Powyższa praca obejmuję zagadnienia związane z Legionami Polskimi od momentu uformowania się oddziału do wydania Aktu 5 listopada, które były przedstawiane na łamach czasopisma ,,Wiadomości Polskie”. W swej pracy starałem się skupić nie tylko na aspektach wojskowych funkcjonowania Legionów, ale także na sprawach ideologicznych i społecznych związanych z ich działalnością. Rozdział pierwszy jest krótkim wprowadzeniem do tematu, następnie skupiłem się na przedstawieniu ideologii Legionów Polskich. W rozdziale III starałem sie opisać jaki według ,,Wiadomości Polskich” był stosunek społeczeństwa polskiego do Legionów i ich ideologii. W kolejnym rozdziale porównałem relację z pól bitewnych przedstawianych przez omawiany periodyk z historiografią. W ostatnim rozdziale zrekonstruowałem obraz życia codziennego, na podstawie czasopisma będącego podstawą owych rozważań. Bazą dla moich rozważań było wspomniane wyżej czasopismo ,,Wiadomości Polskie”, związane z Naczelnym Komitetem Narodowym.

This work contains issues connected with the Polish Legions from their creation to the passing of the Act of 5th November, which was presented in the magazine “The Polish News”. In my work I've tried to focus not only on military aspects of the functioning of the Legions, but also on matters related to their ideological and social activity. Chapter I is a brief introduction to the topic whereas in the next part I’ve focused on presentation of the ideology of the Polish Legions. In chapter III I’ve tried to describe – according to “The Polish News” – the attitude of Polish society to Legions and their ideology. In the next chapter I’ve compared the account from battlefields presented in the magazine with historiography. The last chapter is a reconstruction of the picture of everyday life as presented in given magazines. For the base of my consideration I chose above-mentioned magazine “The Polish News” which was associated with the Supreme National Committee.
