The phenomenon of mysticism and mystical experience in the light of selected issues from the fields of religion, psychology and sociology.

In the following thesis, the phenomena of mysticism and mystical experience are discussed in the light of issues from the fields of religion, psychology and sociology. In order to define and classify the subject of the thesis, the author based her work on texts by early Christian mystics, among them Master Eckhart, a representative of apophatic theology. Mystical trends are characterised within four traditions: Christian, Jewish, Eastern and Islamic. Having defined and characterised the phenomena in such a way, the author then contrasted them with the scientific experience of traditional psychology; Jung's analysis; medicine in the area of psychedelic mysticism; cases of mystical experience in schizophrenic patients; with the newest research results in neurotheology and sociology.

W niniejszej pracy przedstawione zostały zjawiska mistyki, mistycyzmu i doświadczenia mistycznego w świetle wybranych zagadnień z dziedziny religii, psychologii i socjologii. W celu zdefiniowania i sklasyfikowania tematu pracy oparto się na źródłowych tekstach wczesnochrześcijańskich mistyków, w tym Mistrza Eckharta jako jednego z przedstawicieli teologii apofatycznej. Scharakteryzowane zostały nurty mistyczne w obrębie czterech tradycji: chrześcijańskiej, żydowskiej, wschodniej i islamskiej. Tak zdefiniowane i skategoryzowane zjawiska zderzone zostały z naukowym doświadczeniem psychologii tradycyjnej; analizy jungowskiej; medycyny z zakresu mistycyzmu psychodelicznego; występowaniem w psychiatrii doświadczeń mistycznych u chorych na schizofrenię; z najnowszymi doniesieniami z zakresu neuroteologii i socjologii.
