Hamas: from the Resistance Movement to the Political Structure.

W 2006 roku wybory w Autonomii Palestyńskiej zakończyły się zaskakującym zwycięstwem Hamasu – organizacji uznawanej na arenie międzynarodowej za organizację terrorystyczną. Celem mojej pracy jest ukazanie w jaki sposób Hamas, który powstał jako ruch oporu przeciwko okupacji izraelskiej zdobył aż tak duże poparcie, by stać się partią rządzącą. Jest to także próba opisania wieloaspektowej organizacji, która najczęściej jest postrzegana poprzez liczbę dokonanych zamachów. Praca składa się z czterech rozdziałów. Część pierwsza ukazuje genezę ruchu oraz opisuje okoliczności, w jakich powstawała nowa organizacja. Rozdział drugi przedstawia ideologię Hamasu z perspektywy Karty z 1988 roku. Jest to dokument założycielski, w którym przedstawiono główne idee, cele i strategie ruchu. W rozdziale trzecim opisuję społeczną działalność Hamasu. Rozdział czwarty ukazuje działalność Hamasu w sferze polityki. Przedstawiłam postawę Hamasu w kontekście ważnych wydarzeń politycznych - od porozumienia w Oslo, poprzez II intifadę i wybory w 2006 roku. Podsumowanie jest próbą nakreślenia wizerunku Hamasu z perspektywy działalności społecznej i aktywności w sferze politycznej.

Elections in 2006 for the Palestine National Authority ended with a surprising victory of Hamas - an organization internationally recognized as a terrorist organization.The aim of my work is to show how the Hamas, which was created as a resistance movement against the Israeli occupation won so much support to become the ruling party. It is also an attempt to describe the multi-faceted organization that is generally seen by the number of attacks made.The work consists of four chapters. Part one shows the origin of movement and describes the circumstances in which a new organization was created. The second chapter presents the ideology of Hamas from the perspective of the Charter of 1988. It is a founding document, which sets out the main ideas, objectives and strategies of the movement. In the third chapter I described the social activities of Hamas. Chapter Four presents the activities of Hamas in the political sphere. I presented the attitude of Hamas in the context of political events - from the Oslo Accords, by the second intifada and the elections in 2006. The Summary is an attempt to outline the image of Hamas from the perspective of social and political activities.
