The Arab Spring and the new forms of artistic expression.

Streszczenie: Praca nakreśla w skrócie najważniejsze cechy charakterystyczne i genezę jednej z najszybciej rozwijających się dziedziny sztuki współczesnej jaką jest street art. Podkreślając jego wyjątkowość i uwarunkowania które sprawiają, że jest on tak uniwersalny i ukazuje w jaki sposób jest on inkorporowany na terenach Bliskiego Wschodu. Street art dzięki swemu występowaniu głównie w przestrzeni publicznej i dużemu zaangażowaniu społecznemu tworzących go artystów staje się doskonałym kanałem wyrazu nastrojów społecznych. Pekst ukazuje bardzo dynamiczny proces rozprzestrzeniania się idei graffiti i wykorzystywania tej formy wyrazu w trakcie trwania Arabskiej Wiosny. Opisując poszczególne przykłady zastosowania street artu jako wyrazu sprzeciwu wobec panującym ustrojom udowadnia, że graffiti i inne przejawy sztuki ulicznej mogą być narzędziem w walce z opresją, i dzięki braku filtra cenzury i stosunkowo łatwego dostępu do narzędzie staje się ogólnodostępny dla każdego.

The purpose of this study was to outline the essential characteristics and the genesis of one of the fastest growing area of contemporary art- street art. Stressing the uniqueness and conditions that make it so versatile shows how it is incorporated in the areas of the Middle East. Street art mainly due to its presence in public space and high social engagement of artists creating it becomes the perfect channel of expression of public sentiment. The study reveals a very dynamic process of spreading the idea of graffiti and use of this form of expression during the course of the Arab Spring. The description of the examples of street art as an expression of opposition to the prevailing regimes proves that graffiti and other forms of street art can be a important tool in the fight against oppression, and by the lack of censorship, makes it a tool accessible for almost everyone.
