Guides for deceased – comparison of the ideas of afterlife presented in Books of the dead: tibetan and egyptian.

Books of the Dead of tibetan buddhism and ancient Egypt are two extraordinary texts that contain colorful descriptions of the ideas of afterlife. In thesis I analyze these texts and compare the ideas of afterlife existence of human from the perspective of tibetan buddhism and religion of ancient Egypt.In the beginning I describe the origin and content of both books. Then I explain the way of understanding the matter of soul in both traditions. After that I describe customs and rites associated with death and funerals. Finally I explain issues associated with the matters of ethics and morality.

Księgi umarłych buddyzmu tybetańskiego i starożytnego Egiptu to dwa niezwykłe teksty zawierające barwne opisy wyobrażeń zaświatów.W pracy dokonuję analizy tych tekstów i porównuję wyobrażenia o pośmiertnej egzystencji człowieka z perspektywy buddyzmu tybetańskiego oraz religii starożytnego Egiptu. Na początku opisuję pochodzenie i treść obu dzieł. Dalej wyjaśniam sposób interpretacji zagadnienia duszy w obu tradycjach. Następnie opisuję zwyczaje i rytuały związane ze śmiercią i ceremoniami pogrzebowymi. Ostatecznie wyjaśniam zagadnienia związane z pojęciami etyki i moralności.
