The Forgotten Eastern Crisis. The Unification of the Principality of Bulgaria and the Eastern Rumelia 1885-1887

Praca dotyczy problematyki związanej z funkcjonowaniem Księstwa Bułgarii i Rumelii Wschodniej w okresie 1879-1887 ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem przyczyn, przebiegu oraz skutków ich zjednoczenia w latach 1885-1887. W poszczególnych rozdziałach została omówiona charakterystyka ustrojowa omawianych organizmów państwowych, ewolucja ich scen politycznych, zmiany ich pozycji na arenie międzynarodowej, proces upadku protektoratu rosyjskiego nad Bułgarią, losy pierwszego monarchy bułgarskiego Aleksandra Battenberga, wydarzenia wojny bułgarsko-serbskiej, kształtowanie się reżimu Stefana Stambołowa w Bułgarii oraz początek tzw. kryzysu bułgarskiego w dyplomacji europejskiej. Ogół zagadnień został przedstawiony na tle wpływu wydarzeń rozgrywających się w Bułgarii w omawianym okresie na sytuację na Półwyspie Bałkańskim oraz w Europie.

The thesis is about the problems, connected with the existance of the Principality of Bulgaria and the Eastern Rumelia in the period 1879-1887 with particular reference to the reasons, the process and the results of their unification in 1885-1887. In the particular chapters there were discussed the character of the political systems in the countries, the evolution of their political scenes, the changes their international positions, the process of the colapse of the Russian protectorate in Bulgaria, the career of first Bulgarian monarch Aleksander Battenberg, the events of Bulgaro-Serbian War, the formation of Stefan Stambolov's regime in Bulgaria and the beggining of Bulgarian Crisis in European diplomacy. The whole of the topic was showed on the background of the effects of the events in Bulgaria in that period to the situation in the Balkan Penisula and in Europe.
