Polish – Jewish relations in the Polish countryside during World War II based on selected literary texts

Przedmiot pracy stanowi ukazanie stosunków polsko – żydowskich na wsi polskiej podczas II wojny światowej na postawie wybranych tekstów literackich. Dobór literatury zdeterminowany został cechami, które pozwalają dokonać analizy postaw Polaków wobec planu ostatecznego rozwiązania kwestii żydowskiej. Najistotniejszą spośród nich jest moment stawania przed dylematem, dotyczącym udzielenia lub nieudzielenia pomocy Żydom. Wybór ten decyduje o tym, czy konkretna osoba stanie się pomocnikiem ocalenia czy pomocnikiem zagłady. Oprócz literatury pięknej wśród analizowanych tekstów znajdują się relacje świadków, zamieszczone w pracach naukowych dotyczących tego zagadnienia. Metoda badawcza bazuje na dokonaniach antropologii, socjologii oraz historii w kontekście Holocaustu. Istotne są przyczyny oraz motywy poszczególnych schematów zachowań. Analizy mają także na celu interpretację poszczególnych postaw w odniesieniu do pojęć stereotypu oraz antysemityzmu.

The subject of this work is to show an Polish - Jewish relations in polish countryside during the World War II based on selected literary texts.The choice of the literature was determined by the features, which allowed to analyze a Polish attitude to the plan for the Final Solution of the Jewish question. The most important of them is the point of dilemma concerning the assistance or failure to help the Jews. This choice determines whether a person will become a help or destruction assistant. In addition to the literature of the analyzed texts are eyewitness accounts, published in scientific papers on this subject.The method is based on the achievements of anthropology, sociology and history in the context of the Holocaust. Causes and motives of individual patterns of behavior are significant. The aim of analyses is also designed to interpret the various attitudes in relation to the concepts of stereotype and anti-Semitism.
