Girl and Bad Bad Wolf. Fairy Tales Motif in Contemporary Visual Culture

The topic of this thesis are fairy tales in the context of contemporary visual culture. The main objects of research constitute the works of young Polish artists, a few films, a computer game and a comic book. The motif which interests me most is the relationship between two characters from fairy tales: a little girl and a wild animal, often identified as a wolf. This motif is analyzed in detail in accordance with vast methodology of humanities. The aim of this thesis is to trace - on the basis of collected sources – how this motif penetrates different spheres of visual culture.

Tematem niniejszej pracy magisterskiej jest problematyka baśni w kontekście współczesnej kultury wizualnej. Głównym przedmiotem badań są prace młodych polskich artystów, filmy, gra komputerowa oraz komiks. Szczególnie interesującym mnie wątkiem jest związek baśniowej dziewczynki z dzikim zwierzęciem, utożsamianym często z wilkiem. Ten wątek zostaje poddany szczegółowej analizie z uwzględnieniem szerokiej metodologii badań humanistycznych. Celem pracy jest prześledzenie-na podstawie zgromadzonych materiałów-przenikania się owego motywu w różnych obszarach kultury wizualnej.
