W pracy przedstawiono funkcję migdałków podniebiennych, jako integralną część układu odpornościowego. Opisano fizjologiczną rolę migdałka w warunkach prawidłowych i w przypadkach niektórych stanów chorobowych. Przedstawiono cały proces przygotowania pacjenta do zabiegu oraz rolę pielęgniarki jaką spełnia w poszczególnych etapach przygotowań do zabiegu, w okresie pooperacyjnych i w dalszych dobach po operacji. Ostatni rozdział zawiera opis przypadku pacjenta przebywającego na oddziale otolaryngologii Szpitala Specjalistycznego im. Ludwika Rydygiera.

This thesis there is presented the function of the palatine tonsils as an integral part of the immune system. The thesis describes a physiological role of the tonsils in case of normal circumstances as well as in case of some of the medical conditions.The thesis also deals with a description of the whole process of preparing a patient to the medical treatment and the role of a nurse that they have at each stage of the preparation to the treatment, during the post-operative period and later.The last chapter includes a description of a case of a patient who was treated at the ward of otolaryngology in the L. Rydygier Specialist Hospital in Krakow.
