Effect of biologic therapy on quality of life of patients suffering from inflammatory rheumatic diseases - Opinion patients.

Rheumatic diseases are a group of diseases, which are related to the chronic inflammation within the connective tissue. Inflammation is produced by unknow autoimmune causes. Rheumatoid patients are often young people, about 30 years old. Mainly characterized by pain, swelling of the joints and the presence of morning stiffness. These symptoms not only affect the quality of life of patients as well as untreated or improperly treated lead to profound disability.Rheumatic diseases, which this work is devoted to are rheumatoid arthritis (RA), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), and ankylosing spondylitis (AS). It is estimated that every fourth polish population will be suffering from rheumatic diseases in future. The same situation will be in the rest of world. The gold standard in the treatment of rheumatic diseases are disease-modifying drugs, mainly methotrexate. For several years innovative biological treatment, in which researchers and physicians are placing high hopes, is applayed in the pharmacotherapy.The aim of this study was to investigate the opinions of patients suffering from rheumatic diseases concerning the impact of biologics drugs on their quality of life. The data have been collected using method of diagnostic survey to evaluate the efficacy of biological therapy in terms of subjective patients opinion. Results of this study have shown that biological therapy is indicated by patients as much more efficient than treatment with DMART.

Choroby reumatyczne to grupa chorób, których głównymi cechami są przewlekłe stany zapalne w obrębie tkanki łącznej. Zmiany spowodowane są najczęściej przyczynami autoimmunologicznymi. Często chorują na choroby reumatyczne młode osoby, około 30 roku życia. Choroby te charakteryzują się bólem, obrzękiem stawów i występowaniem sztywności porannej. Powyższe dolegliwości nie tylko pogarszają jakość życia chorych ale także nieleczone lub nieprawidłowo leczone prowadzą do głębokiej niepełnosprawności. Choroby reumatyczne, którym poświęcona jest praca są to reumatoidalne zapalenie stawów (rzs), łuszczycowe zapalenie stawów (łzs) i zesztywniające zapalenie stawów kręgosłupa (zzsk). Szacuje się, że na dolegliwości reumatyczne w tym na wyżej wymienione choroby cierpi przeciętnie co czwarty Polak. Podobnie będzie na świecie. Złotym standardem w leczeniu chorób reumatycznych są Leki Modyfikujące Przebieg Choroby, głównie metotreksat. Od kilkunastu lat stosuje się również w farmakoterapii nowatorską terapię biologiczną, w której naukowcy i lekarze pokładają duże nadzieje.Celem pracy było zbadanie opinii pacjentów cierpiących na choroby reumatyczne dotyczącej wpływu leków biologicznych na ich jakość życia. Metodą sondażu diagnostycznego zostały zebrane dane oceniające skuteczność terapii biologicznej w ujęciu subiektywnych odczuć chorych. Analiza zebranych danych wykazała zależność między subiektywnie odczuwaną jakością życia a rodzajem stosowanej terapii. Chorzy stosujący terapię biologiczną uważają, że ta terapia jest bardziej skuteczna od poprzedniej.
