The most famous of "the quiet heroines". The legend of Henryka Pustowojtówna in Polish literature in the years 1863-1939

Praca przedstawia wizerunek Henryki Pustowojtówny, adiutantki w czasie powstania styczniowego, kreowany w polskim piśmiennictwie: prasie, historiografii, pamiętnikach i literaturze pięknej. Ukazuje narodziny i rozwój legendy narodowej bohaterki oraz główne mechanizmy legendotwórcze, którym była poddawana postać Pustowojtówny. Praca składa się z trzech rozdziałów w ujęciu chronologicznym.

This study shows the different images of Henryka Pustowojtówna, who was an aide-de-camp during the January Uprising, in Polish literature: in the press, historiography, memoirs and belles-lettres. It presents the origins and the evolution of the legend of this national heroine. Important issues are also the main mechanisms of the process of creating Henryka`s legend. This work is divided into three chapters in chronological order.
